Website Review |

Jan/Feb 2001 Site of the
Month: |

Every site should have a vision. That
is my feeling. When I first started my site I wanted to create a place where
other hobbyists could come and gather information. I also wanted it to be a
gathering place of information. I envisioned a lot of give and take. It hasn’t
exactly worked out that way,
but
I’m still enamored by the idea and I was thus thrilled to see another site with
a similar vision.
Myfishtank.net is a great site to spend
an hour on. And it’s a great site to go back to and spend another hour on the
next day. It’s an almost entirely interactive site that allows hobbyists to
proactively share their knowledge and interest with each other.

Original Content (8) |
|
Since
most of the site is submitted by surfers/users, it is fresh and of
course original. The site is still in its infancy, so the amount of
information is always growing. If I did a review of this site in say
March, I’m sure Id give the site a 10 in this category.

Value to the Hobby (9) |
|
This site does a great job of
helping aquarists out. It involves aquarists. There are few things that
will make your interest grow more than getting involved in the hobby.
Clubs and Societies have always been the doorway to garnering and
increasing interest in the past, and now we have online communities that
spread information. Of course that only helps if the information is
good. In the case of Myfishtank.net, the information is good and it is
valuable. Though the site could be
worthless waiting for people to contribute, it has seemed to find good contributors.

Design (Visuals/Navigation) (10) |
|
The visuals and overall layout of the site make it very easy to
navigate. Youll be impressed with the things that have been done to make the site
seem stylish without it being too cool for its own good. The best way I could
describe the overall is that it feels homey. Youll come and you wont want to leave until youve visited
every page. A simple and very effective layout that shines with its integration of
photos and useful information.
(ed note: Since
this review, the site has been redesigned...it still looks great, as the
webmaster just has a knack for great designs:) |

Overall (9) |
|
There are several sites on the net I aspire to make my site more
like. Each of them brings something special to the online aquarium community. In the case
of Myfishtank.net, many things are brought to the community. We now have another wonderful
site to exchange information. The ease at which you can trade info and the caliber of the
people who are contributing to this site will make you an instant fan Im
sure....(while you're there, check out my river tank in the tanks section!) |
