TROP-AQUARIUM

3125 E TROPICANA AVE

LAS VEGAS, NV

(702) 458-2981

The difference between last month's reviewed store and this month's is night and day.  While there are many differences, there also many things that are the same.  For example.  Both stores have great selections.  Both stores are very large and carry a good supply of aquarium supplies.  Unfortunately that's where the positive comparison ends.

Trop-Aquarium is a pet store for adults.  That's not to say that kids don't shop there.  In fact kids do shop there, they are just not treated the way young hobbyists should be.  This is not aletmetellyou.jpg (9828 bytes) store that you want to take your son or daughter to if you want to hand pick out a fish.

The quality of fish at Trop-Aquarium is below average.  Though the tanks are not filled with dead fish, many of the fish appear to be unhealthy.

Overall, I'd have to give Trop-Aquarium two thumbs down.  The lifeblood of the aquarium hobby is new fishkeepers.  To get interested in the hobby, prospective aquarists need people interested in them.   Trop-Aquarium does not appear to provide the support that people need to stay in the hobby nor do they seem to have the high-quality fish that a beginning hobbyist needs in order to experience initial success.  Though Trop-Aquarium may have one of the best selections in Las Vegas, I'm not convinced that they are the best store in the town.
