RATINGS

The overall rating for the filter. This is NOT an average of all the categories. It is an independent rating of the OVERALL quality of the product.

BUY!

Maintenance-This category rates two things.  First, it rate the ease of setting up the filter, and second it rates the ease of keeping the filter going once it has been set-up.  A score of 5 would mean a filter that requires little or no maintenance to keep running, a 1 would be a filter that is difficult to set-up and difficult to clean and keep in working order.

Noise-This category rates how loud the filter is.  This includes any sound that splash would create if the filter uses a Biowheel or is constructed so that it remains out of the water most of the time.  A 5 in this category denotes a filter that is very quiet.  A 1 is a filter that will keep you up at night with its whirring.

Durability-This category rates the longevity of a filter.  A filter with a 5 in this category will probably last you a long time if you take proper care of it.

Quality-This category rates the ability of the filter to clean the water.  Though this is somewhat subjective, it is expected that a filter with a 5 in this category does a better job of getting the water clean both biologically(including chemically) and mechanically than filter with a lower rating.
